Engineering Manager

<h2><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">About the Role</span></h2> <p>We are seeking an Engineering Manager at Chime’s San Francisco, CA office.</p> <p>The base salary offered for this role will begin at $250,000 and up to $270,000. Full-time employees are also eligible for a bonus, competitive equity package, and benefits. The actual base salary offered may be higher, depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience.</p> <h2><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">In this role, you can expect to</span></h2> <ul> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Plan, direct, or coordinate activities in such fields as software engineering.&nbsp;</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Direct daily operations of department, analyzing workflow, establishing priorities, developing standards and setting deadlines.&nbsp;</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Meet with department heads, managers, supervisors, vendors, and others, to solicit cooperation and resolve problems.&nbsp;</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Review project plans to plan and coordinate project activity.&nbsp;</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Oversee the design, development, and deployment of platform solutions using AWS services (e.g., DynamoDB, Kinesis, EC2) and databases like Postgres, ensuring high-quality, scalable, and secure infrastructure solutions that align with business objectives.&nbsp;</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Work closely with engineering and product leaders to identify use cases, define requirements, and drive technical decisions that support quality, performance, scalability, reliability, and security for the platform.&nbsp;</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Promote a culture of innovation, encourage creative problem-solving, and drive continuous improvement by fostering a collaborative environment for your team to thrive in while taking smart risks.&nbsp;</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Mentor engineers at all levels, providing guidance on career development and technical skills, while empowering the team to solve complex infrastructure challenges and fostering a growth-oriented environment.&nbsp;</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Establish clear team objectives and align them with broader business goals, ensuring effective execution of initiatives.&nbsp;</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Regularly evaluate progress and adjust priorities to meet evolving needs.&nbsp;</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Ensure that the platform infrastructure is designed and maintained to meet high standards for reliability, availability, and performance, with proactive monitoring and rapid incident response processes.&nbsp;</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Act as a key contributor to overall engineering initiatives, collaborating with other leaders across the company to enhance platform capabilities and continuously evolve the technical strategy in alignment with company goals.</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Must be available to work on projects at various, unanticipated sites throughout the United States.
