Engineering Manager, Spending, Savings, & Investing

<h2><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><strong>About the role</strong></span></h2> <p><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Chime is looking for an engineering leader to help manage and guide one of the Spending, Saving &amp; Investing technology teams. Chime’s Spending, Saving &amp; Investing org is on a mission to make Chime the top choice for everyday spending by building innovative, reliable, and member-first financial tools. We focus on driving active spend and usage, increasing reliability and availability, and delivering seamless, trusted experiences across cards, credit, money movement, deals, and transaction intelligence. Our work empowers members to manage their money with confidence, spend smarter, and improve their long-term financial health.</span></p> <p><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">The base salary offered for this role and level of experience will begin at $199,000 and up to $275,000. Full-time employees are also eligible for a bonus, competitive equity package, and benefits. The actual base salary offered may be higher, depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience.</span></p> <h2><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><strong>In this role, you can expect to</strong></span></h2> <ul> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Build, lead and hire a high-calibre team of software engineers to solve these problems while being hands on.&nbsp;</span></li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Ensure that technical decisions support our bar for quality and performance, but also map to our company and organization level priorities.&nbsp;</span></li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Design, develop, test, and scale new and existing consumer product features.</span></li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Encourage innovation and foster an environment of continuous improvement.</span></li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Establish a sense of urgency and direction, set expectations with team and individuals. Establish team objectives in alignment with business goals.&nbsp;</span></li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Work very closely with Product Management to launch precise solutions for the users.</span></li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Contribute to overall engineering initiatives as a member of Chime’s engineering leadership team.</span></li> </ul> <h2><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><strong>To thrive in this role, you have</strong></span></h2> <ul> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Experience with similar tech: Ruby, React Native, Distributed Systems, AWS services (data, compute) and Service Oriented Architectures.</span></li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Worked as a software engineer and have a deep empathy towards engineering happiness.</span></li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Experience supporting coaching members of your team around project execution, skill development, and career progression.</span></li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">2+ years in people management responsibilities.</span></li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Interest in pushing the technology, people, and organization envelope to explore new ways we can deliver amazement to our customers.</span></li> <li
