About the Role We’re looking for a Fabric Engineer to play a key role in building and shaping a modern data platform powered by Microsoft Fabric. In this role, you’ll work on high-impact initiatives that directly improve how data is used across the business, from operational reporting to advanced analytics. You’ll design scalable data pipelines, improve data quality and visibility, and help establish a more mature, DevOps-driven approach to data delivery.
You’ll collaborate closely with teams across Data, Product, Engineering, and operations, giving you strong exposure to both technical and business challenges. This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys solving real-world data problems, working with modern tools, and taking ownership in a collaborative, fast-moving environment.
ResponsibilitiesDesign, build, and evolve data solutions using Microsoft Fabric, including pipelines, dataflows, lakehouses, and warehousesDevelop scalable and reusable data ingestion processes across multiple data sources, including APIs, databases, and third-party systemsBuild and optimise data models that improve data quality, consistency, and accessibility across the organisationWork closely with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into effective data solutionsImplement monitoring, validation, and alerting to ensure data reliability and trustDeliver high-quality, analytics-ready datasets for reporting tools such as Power BIIntroduce and promote DevOps best practices, including version control, CI/CD, and structured release processesCollaborate with engineering teams to align data solutions with wider system architecture and integrationsTroubleshoot and resolve data issues, ensuring high availability and accuracy of data assetsContribute to best practices, documentation, and standards across the data platformIdentify opportunities to automate processes and improve efficiency through better use of dataStay current with Microsoft Fabric and cloud data technologies, bringing new ideas and improvementsRequirementsProven experience in a Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering, or similar roleStrong experience building and maintaining data pipelines across multiple data sourcesHands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric and/or Azure data technologiesStrong SQL skills for transforming, validating, and analysing dataExperience using Python (or similar) for automation and data processingExperience working with Git and version control in team environmentsExperience supporting reporting and business intelligence through well-structured datasetsStrong understanding of modern cloud data engineering practicesAbility to build reliable, scalable, and maintainable data pipelinesStrong problem-solving skills with a proactive and analytical mindsetAbility to work closely with stakeholders and translate business needs into technical solutionsStrong communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts clearlyHighly organised with the ability to manage multiple prioritiesCollaborative mindset and ability to work across cross-functional teamsContinuous improvement mindset with a focus on efficiency and qualityStrong sense of ownership and accountabilityNice to HaveDegree in Computer Science, Data, or a related fieldMicrosoft, Azure, or data-related certificationsExperience with data quality frameworks, validation, and monitoringExperience with CI/CD and DevOps practices for data platformsExperience with Power BI or similar BI toolsFamiliarity with medallion architecture or metadata-driven pipeline designExperience with real-time or near real-time data processingUnderstanding of data governance and data platform best practicesComfortable working in fast-paced, evolving environmentsPassion for learning and staying up to date with modern data technologiesBenefitsFixed Shifts: 12:00 PM - 9:30 PM IST (Summer) | 1:00 PM - 10:30 PM IST (Winter)No Weekend Work: Real work-life balance, not just wordsDay 1 Benefits: Laptop and full medical insurance providedSupport That Matters: Mentorship, community, and forums where ideas are sharedTrue Belonging: A long-term career where your contributions are valuedAt Smart Working, you’ll never be just another remote hire.
