Reporting to the Controller, this role owns our procurement workflows and partners directly with budget holders across the business to drive negotiation strategy on new spend and contract renewals.</p> <p>This is a hands-on leadership role: part negotiation, part people management, part cross functional partnership. The right candidate is comfortable running vendor negotiations personally, coaching a team to do the same, while providing visibility to the organization.</p> <p><strong>What you’ll do</strong></p> <ul> <li>Lead and develop a high-performing procurement team, setting expectations, priorities and growth plans.</li> <li>Build the operating system (intake SLAs, negotiation playbooks, escalation paths) that lets the team run efficiently as the company grows.</li> <li>Partner with cross functional stakeholders across departments to shape negotiation strategy for new spend and contract renewals.</li> <li>Own Checkr's procurement policy, approval thresholds, and vendor onboarding/due diligence process.</li> <li>Build the SOX controls and audit requirements related to procurement and vendor spend controls.</li> </ul> <p><strong>What you bring</strong></p> <ul> <li>10+ years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, or vendor management, including direct people management experience.</li> <li>A track record of personally negotiating contracts across a range of spend categories (software/SaaS, professional services, facilities, etc.).</li> <li>Hands-on experience with a procure-to-pay or intake/orchestration platform (Zip or comparable tools).</li> <li>Strong cross-functional influence skills driving alignment with budget holders and stakeholders.</li> <li>Comfortable operating in a
