Organic Search Marketer - SEO/AEO

For decades, online search followed a simple exchange: customers typed keywords, engines returned links, and brands competed for clicks. AI search has changed that. What was once a way to locate information has become a way to interpret it — founders no longer just search for links, they ask complex questions, compare options, and rely on AI systems to synthesize answers they can act on. For Mercury, that shift is an opportunity: to shape how our expertise shows up across search and answer engines.

Mercury’s Organic Search team is hiring an Organic Search Marketer (SEO/AEO) to help define how Mercury shows up across search engines, answer engines, and AI-native discovery — for founders and entrepreneurs building companies, navigating complexity, and looking for trusted guidance in the moments that matter.

In this role, you’ll identify high-impact opportunities, develop SEO and AEO strategies that drive traffic and AI visibility for Mercury products (like Mercury's Business Credit Cards), experiment with new workflows and formats, and help turn Mercury’s expertise into content that is discoverable, authoritative, and genuinely useful. We’re looking for someone with strong commercial instincts, deep SEO/AEO fluency, an AI-native mindset, and the curiosity and ownership to help define and set the standard for what Mercury’s modern search strategy looks like.

If this sounds like you...

A technically fluent SEO/AEO expert who understands how LLMs, bots, and traditional search engines consume, interpret, and weight content — and can apply that expertise to crawling, indexing, rendering, site architecture, and page performance…

A senior cross-functional operator who can build alignment across teams, navigate competing priorities, and move complex initiatives forward even when the path isn’t obvious…

An analytical thinker who can design and run thoughtful experiments — and a practical builder who knows when to move quickly, learn, and ship…

Someone who raises the bar for the craft — establishing standards, sharing judgment, and helping teammates produce stronger work.

...then read on.

In this role, you will:

Define and own high-impact SEO and AI Search strategies across priority products and business opportunities, using performance data, competitor deep dives, and audience insights to prioritize opportunities, close coverage gaps, and improve content effectiveness over time — ultimately driving qualified traffic that converts into Mercury account applications and revenue.

Make explicit trade-offs between opportunities and redirecting investment when work is not meaningfully advancing Mercury’s goals.

Partner cross-functionally with Socia
