Senior Engineer (Platform)

✨ One platform, a whole world of opportunity The best jobs have always clustered in a handful of the world's wealthiest cities. But talent is everywhere. Oyster set out to close that gap - building a global employment platform that lets companies hire, pay, and care for brilliant people anywhere. We're proof that a high-performing culture doesn't need an office. Distributed across 60+ countries since 2020, we've built something the industry keeps noticing: Ranked #10 of 250 on TIME and Statista's 2026 list of America's Top WorkTech Companies Named one of America's Greatest Startup Workplaces 2026 by Newsweek A G2 Spring 2026 Leader across Employer of Record, Global Employment, Multi-country Payroll, and HR Compliance The only B Corp-certified global employment platform ~ independently verified since 2023 Two of those rankings measured our business impact from the outside. One measured how our own people feel about working here. They landed in the same place ~ because at Oyster, culture and performance aren't separate conversations. They're the same one. And we're just getting started. If you want to do the best work of your career alongside people who care as much as you do, we'd love for you to apply. 👩‍💻 The Role Location: While this position is posted in a specific location, all of Oyster’s positions are fully remote, and you can work from home. Forever. To create the best experience for our new hire, this role requires you to be based within +4 / -0 UTC. Oyster’s Platform Flow Engineering team builds the systems and tooling that allow our engineers to ship software quickly, safely, and reliably at scale. As a Senior Platform Engineer, you’ll help shape the platform capabilities that sit between code and production, from CI/CD and cloud infrastructure to observability, developer tooling, and operational workflows. You’ll work closely with application and security engineers to remove infrastructure complexity, create better developer experiences, and build reliable, secure foundations that scale with Oyster. You’ll also explore practical ways to use AI to improve developer productivity, automate operational workflows, and reduce engineering toil. Key Responsibilities Build a world-class developer experience : Design and maintain internal tooling, packages, and abstractions that create simple, self-service paths for engineers and reduce infrastructure complexity and operational toil. Own the path from commit to production : Build, operate, and continuously improve reliable, automated CI/CD pipelines that enable engineers to ship safely, frequently, and with confidence. Evolve our cloud platform : Operate and improve Oyster’s AWS infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code, with a focus on scalability, availability, security, and cost efficiency. Improve reliability and observability : Apply SRE principles, observability, and effective incident-management practices to reduce outages, accelerate recovery, and identify opportunities to eliminate recurring operational work. Accelerate engineering with AI : Identify and implement practical ways to use AI, automation, and intelligent tooling to improve developer productivity, accelerate incident diagnosis, automate repetitive workflows, and reduce operational toil. Build platform capabilities as a product : Understand the needs of internal engineering teams, turn recurring pain points into scalable platform solutions, and use feedback and metrics to continuously improve the developer experience. Partner closely with engineering : Work openly with application, security, and infrastructure teams to diagnose issues, support incident response, and help teams adopt reliable and secure ways of building and operating software. Core Requirements 5+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, SRE, Infrastructure Engineering, or a similar production engineering role. Strong software development experience , with the ability to build maintainable automation, tooling, and platform abstractions. Proven experience designing and operating production systems on AWS . Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code , ideally Terraform or an equivalent technology. Hands-on experience building and operating CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation . Experience with observability, monitoring, and production debugging using tools such as Datadog, Sentry, or equivalent technologies. Strong understanding of reliability, incident response, and operational best practices . A platform mindset : you think about internal engineering teams as customers and look for ways to reduce their cognitive load and make the safe path the easy path. Strong communication and collaboration skills, particularly in remote, asynchronous engineering environments . Bonus Points Experience building or evolving internal developer platforms, golden paths, or self-service infrastructure . Experience using AI coding assistants, agents, or AI-powered developer tooling to improve engineering productivity o
