Please note: We're currently building our talent pipeline for this role and don't expect to begin interviewing immediately. We review every application carefully, but it may take us a little longer than usual to get back to you. Thank you for your patience. Why This Role? We're hiring our first Senior Manager, Talent Development to help define how Cohere develops managers, leaders, and talent as we scale. This is a rare opportunity to own and shape a function from the ground up. Rather than inheriting a mature learning organization, you'll design the programs, frameworks, and ways of working that help one of the world's leading AI companies grow its people. You'll work directly with the Head of HR to shape the Talent Development function from the ground up. This is a high-trust, high-autonomy role with significant influence across the People team and the wider business. You'll partner closely with HR Business Partners and senior leaders to build the capabilities the organization needs as Cohere scales. Our ambition is to build a People function known for exceptional managers, outstanding leadership, and organizational capability that becomes a genuine competitive advantage. Talent Development will play a central role in making that happen. This role begins as a senior individual contributor with significant influence across the business. As Cohere continues to grow, we expect the Talent Development function to grow with it, creating opportunities to build and lead a team over time. We're looking for someone who wants to do the best work of their career—someone energized by solving real business problems, setting a high bar, and building programs that managers and employees love and genuinely value. You'll thrive here if you: Build capability — helping managers, leaders, and teams perform at their best. Think commercially — solving business problems rather than delivering training. Love building — creating practical programs from zero to one. Influence through partnership — working effectively with leaders and PBPs. Balance strategy and execution — happy designing the vision while delivering it. Enjoy ambiguity — comfortable operating in fast-moving environments. Areas you'll typically own Leadership Development — manager and leadership capability. Talent Development — career development, succession, and high-potential programs. Manager Enablement — practical playbooks, frameworks, and resources. Organizational Capability — improving how teams lead, collaborate, communicate, and operate. Onboarding & Growth — helping new employees ramp quickly and successfully. Compensation The expected salary range for this position is $160k-$240k (or local market equivalent), plus equity. Final compensation will depend on factors including experience, skills, location, and market benchmarks. In addition to base salary and equity, Cohere offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your health, wellbeing, and professional growth. Full-Time Employees at Cohere enjoy these Perks: A weekly lunch stipend of $75/£75 or equivalent in your local currency for lunch. Full health and dental benefits, including a separate budget for mental health. RRSP matching, 401K, Pension Scheme. 100% Parental Leave top-up for up to 6 months, for either parent. Annual enrichment benefits: Arts & culture, fitness/wellness, quality time, and a workspace improvement credit. Education & learning stipend for conferences, courses, and coaching. 6 weeks of paid vacation (30 working days!) Budget for traveling to other offices if you are remote, plus an annual company offsite. How and Where We Work: Cohere is remote-friendly. We have offices in Toronto, San Francisco, New York City, London, Paris, Montreal, and more coming soon. For those in the office: a daily lunch program, plenty of snacks, and regular community and social events.
