Senior Software Engineer, AI & App Experience

<h2><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><strong>About the Role</strong></span></h2> <p><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">We are looking for a Senior Full-Stack Engineer to join our team and help build Jade, Chime's AI-powered financial assistant.</span></p> <p><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">As a senior engineer on this team, you'll work across the full breadth of what it takes to bring an AI product to life — from designing new agent capabilities and conversation experiences to building the eval frameworks, observability, and guardrail systems that ensure Jade is reliable and safe for millions of members. You'll shape how Jade reasons, acts, and improves over time.</span></p> <p><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">You'll build member-facing capabilities that help people manage their spending, stay on top of subscriptions, and hit their financial goals. You'll also develop internal tools, dashboards, and backend services for model routing, prompt management, agent orchestration, and evaluation pipelines. The AI landscape evolves rapidly, and so does Jade. You'll need to learn quickly, adapt to shifting priorities, and proactively identify what's needed next — whether that's a new financial capability, a better way to test conversations, or a system to keep quality high as we scale. If you're excited about the unique challenges of shipping LLM-powered products at scale, this is the role for you.</span></p> <p><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">The base salary offered for this role and level of experience will begin at $164,000 and up to $259,000. Full-time employees are also eligible for a bonus, competitive equity package, and benefits. The actual base salary offered may be higher, depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience.</span></p> <h2><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><strong>In this role, you can expect to</strong></span></h2> <ul> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Design, build, and scale new capabilities for Jade, Chime's AI-powered financial assistant</span></li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Develop agent architectures, prompt strategies, and orchestration patterns that shape how Jade reasons and acts</span></li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Build eval frameworks, observability, and guardrail systems that let the team ship with speed and confidence</span></li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Partner cross-functionally to solve member pain points and deliver secure, scalable solutions</span></li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Improve system reliability through performance tuning and architectural enhancements</span></li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Contribute to technical design and maintain high standards across the codebase through code reviews and mentorship</span></li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Bring curiosity and initiative to explore how things work and how they can work better</span></li> </ul> <h2><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><strong>To thrive in this role, you have</strong></span></h2> <ul> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">5+ years of backend software development experience in production environments</span></li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Proficiency with AI tooling and AI native development</span></li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Proficiency with Python
