As a Software Development Engineer, you will implement features and improvements to these high-throughput, globally distributed systems, working closely with more senior engineers and other internal Fastly teams to support critical components of our infrastructure.</p> <p><strong>What You'll Do</strong></p> <ul> <li>Implement projects and features that require interaction with neighboring systems, working across groups to solve issues and implement changes</li> <li>Contribute to and facilitate team discussions, respecting and incorporating differing opinions</li> <li>Provide useful design and code review feedback to your teammates</li> <li>Contribute to the core infrastructure and platform needs of the team by working with tools and frameworks like Terraform, Jenkins, Kubernetes, and Chef</li> <li>Help evolve manual tasks into more reliable, automated systems</li> <li>Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical teammates</li> <li>Help onboard and support new team members</li> <li>Take the lead in solving problems of diverse scope, with guidance from senior teammates as needed</li> <li>Participate in an on-call rotation</li> </ul> <p><strong>What We're Looking For</strong></p> <ul> <li>You have 1-3 years of related development experience</li> <li>Working knowledge of GoLang, with a desire to build deeper hands-on expertise</li> <li>Exposure to cloud providers (AWS, GCP), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and infrastructure as code (Terraform)</li> <li>Good understanding of core engineering concepts within your functional area</li> <li>Able to execute on features that require interaction with neighboring applications or services</li> <li>Growing understanding of distributed systems and microservices architecture</li> <li>Comfortable taking on well-scoped projects with support from senior teammates</li> <li>Good written and verbal communication skills</li> <li>A great teammate: communicative, collaborative, empathetic</li> <li>Eager to learn new domains, grow your skills, and ta
